Kate Whiteman is a contemporary mixed-media artist whose work explores power, visibility and social responsibility through large-scale portraiture and material experimentation. Working primarily with oil and concrete, she combines classical influences with expressive mark-making to create paintings that sit between beauty and disruption, inviting viewers to engage with complex social narratives.

Having built her practice independently, Whiteman has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in process, texture and psychological intensity. Her current body of work, Play Anyway, reflects on institutional accountability and the importance of listening, using portraiture to explore the human stories behind public debate.

Her work has been featured by BBC Radio, House & Garden, Ireland's Home Interiors & Living and the Belfast Telegraph, and has been included in a Tate Ward auction. Alongside her studio practice, she undertakes selected community and collaborative projects that extend the social impact of her work.
